Hi Dr Chan, thank you for dropping by
Nice blog you have there! I will be extracting my wisdom teeth at the end of the year. Just removed 2 recently for my braces
Do you suggest removing 4 at one go or 2 at each time?
Hi Cherie,
I guess you must have removed 2 premolars for your braces. OK, taking out all 4 can be pretty traumatic. If you do it under sedation, should be OK. Without sedation, I would advise 2 at time (one side) at most.
Hi Dr Chan, I would like to know how many hours do I have to fast before a surgery under GA? 8 hours no water no food? or 8 hours without food but can take water? Please advice
Thank you!
Cherie, your anaesthetist will advise you on that, but generally 6 hours without solid food and 2 hours without water should be quite safe.
For sedation, you don’t really need to fast. Just no heavy meal 4 hours before surgery.
