Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Pity the Public Service Commission (PSC) which is probably trying very hard to explain how they could have offered a prestigious MOE scholarship to Jonathan Wong, now awaiting sentence in the UK for the possession of child pornography. Maybe to save itself from future embarrassment, the PSC should start sending their scholars to Japan or Thailand.

Meanwhile in Thailand, police have uncovered another 1700 human foetuses at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok. Wat Phai Ngern Chotanaram made it to the headlines again after about 300 bodies were first discovered in the temple morgue earlier. Residents in the vicinity alerted the police when they could no longer put up with the strong smell coming from the temple.

The gruesome discovery reveals that this temple has been processing aborted foetuses regularly for Buddha knows how long. The backlog of bodies waiting for cremation occurred because the broken furnaces have been waiting for repair for one year! Really? Or was some modern witchdoctor trying to create Gu Man Thongs (baby spirits)?

Apparently, the monks were in such deep meditation that they were totally unaware of the smell or the transportation of thousands and thousands of bodies into their compound over the years. I last heard that the temple was organising a prayer session for the public to pray for the unborn children. 300 baht per person. Offerings included.

I hate to use cliches, but this is probably the tip of the abortion Inthanon. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said that the Thai law on abortion is not a problem and need not be reviewed. So what is the problem and what is he suggesting? That he and all the moralists out there are adopting all the unwanted children? Are they prepared to handle the problems that will plague Thailand when these unwanted children grow up?

facebook

Across the globe, Italian doctors are warning Facebook users that the social networking site can trigger asthmatic attacks. According to one Dr Gennaro D’Amato, one of his patient’s asthma was well under control, but after he found out that his ex-girlfriend had befriended many other men on Facebook, his asthma returned. Gosh, Dr D’Amato should really try some Facebook himself and see the number of hits some guys get when they change their status to “single”. Facebook probably won’t just trigger asthma. It probably triggers heart attacks as well. I might trust Dr D’mato with pastas and pizzas, but I wouldn’t want him to manage my asthma.
